We have a nice surprise for you at today’s Farm Stand!
Today is the first time we are selling microgreens.
What are microgreens, you ask? These are the young – and tender – greens harvested at an early stage of growth. Most microgreens have only been growing for 1-2 weeks. While these greens are the rage in the culinary world, they are a great addition in home kitchens, too!
Why buy microgreens? Microgreens might not have a lot of weight, but they are heavyweights in the nutritional world. Microgreens contain several times the density of important nutrients, including vitamins C, E, K, lutein and beta-carotein. So, the bag of greens may look small, but these little guys are mighty. Not only that, microgreens taste great and are a quick and easy way to enhance or add flavors.
Today we are selling arugula microgreens, 1 oz for $2.00. This is our special introductory price for a limited time. We hope to diversify our microgreen offerings to include pea shoots, sunflower shoots, and both mild and spicy microgreen mixes. Today’s offering will add a spicy kick to your salad, and we have the perfect pairing with our winter density lettuce and spinach from our high tunnels.
Here we are using our new greens harvester on our spinach!
