After having a few excess cucumbers (picked before there were enough for the share…and a bit too old to save for the first week we did give out cucumbers), a few members of the farm staff got together on a Saturday  to make pickles.  None of us were pickling experts, but the pickles turned out to be of expert quality.  We’ve been eating on them all week as a chilled treat in this excessive heat.  Enjoy the pictures on Flickr and here below.  If you’d like to try your hand at pickling here’s an easy ‘do-it-yourself’ link for fermenting, vinegar-canning, and refrigerator pickles.  http://www.pickyourown.org/makingpickles.htm
